Purpose of the Document

Through this document, we provide information on the principles we follow when processing your personal data. We also provide detailed information on what data the University collects when establishing a business relationship with you and how this data is used, as well as information about your rights.

Purpose of Data Processing

The University processes your data in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection, for specific, clearly defined purposes and legal grounds.

Who Are the Addressees of This Document?

Administrative, academic, invited and support staff of the University, students (legal representatives of minor students), graduates, as well as individuals participating in University events, trainings and projects.

Data We Process About You

We process identifying, contact, education-related information, professional and employment data, and other data necessary for the University to fulfill its legal obligations.

(The data subjects may include minors. The personal data of minors is processed with due consideration of their best interests.)

Legal Grounds for Data Processing

  • Your consent to the processing of personal data;
  • Processing data for the purpose of providing services to you, including reviewing applications;
  • Legal obligations provided by legislation;
  • Performance of contractual obligations or conclusion of a contract with you;
  • The necessity to protect the legitimate interests of the University or third parties;
  • Public availability of data.

The purpose of video surveillance is the prevention and detection of crime, protection of personal safety and property rights, and protection of confidential information.

Sources of Data Collection

  • Your request for services (via telephone, electronic communication or in-person visit);
  • Use of the University’s remote communication channels;
  • Directly from the data subject;
  • Public sources and third parties (where legal grounds and your consent exist), including the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and legal entities within its system.

Sharing Data with Third Parties

For the fulfillment of obligations imposed by law or contract, and where appropriate legal grounds exist, your data may be shared with authorities defined by legislation and third parties, with your consent.

International Transfer of Data

International data transfer is carried out in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection. If you are enrolled in a program involving a foreign educational institution, the University is authorized to transfer data for educational purposes, subject to compliance with relevant procedures.

Your Rights

  • To request information about the data processed about you, including legal grounds, purposes and retention periods;
  • To request correction, update or completion of incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • To obtain copies of personal data collected about you, where available;
  • To request blocking of your personal data, where applicable;
  • To withdraw your consent at any time, in which case data processing will be terminated and data deleted or destroyed unless another legal basis exists;
  • To request suspension, deletion or destruction of data in cases defined by law.

If your rights are violated, you may contact the Personal Data Protection Officer, the Personal Data Protection Service or the court.

Restriction of Rights

Your rights may be restricted in cases provided by law, provided that such restriction does not violate fundamental human rights and freedoms and is necessary and proportionate in a democratic society.

Data Retention Periods

Your data is retained in accordance with Georgian legislation and for the period necessary to achieve the purposes of processing.

Security Measures

The University ensures organizational and technical measures to protect personal data from unauthorized or accidental access, destruction, modification, blocking, copying or dissemination.

Your Obligations

It is necessary that the data you provide is accurate. In case of changes to your personal information, you are requested to inform the University.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

This document may be updated periodically by the University. Changes will be published on the University’s website.
