Special Education Teacher Training at SANGU

SANGU hosted a training session organized by SANGU’s Teacher Hub on the topic: “The Role of a Special Education Teacher in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Team.”

On November 28, St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University, through the initiative of SANGU’s Teacher Hub, hosted a training session titled “The Role of a Special Education Teacher in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Team.”  The session was led by Natia Niauri, Head of SANGU’s Special Education Teacher Preparation Program.

The training addressed key topics such as:

  • Principles of IEP team collaboration
  • Prioritizing learning goals
  • Levels of the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) framework
  • Long- and short-term educational planning
  • The importance of a special education teacher's professional portfolio


At the end of the event, participants who had successfully completed the following training modules received certificates:

  • Special Education Teacher Portfolio
  • Identifying and Supporting Students with Language-Based Learning Difficulties (LLD)
  • Friendship Circle – Effective Intervention for Enhancing Social Skills


This certification marks an important step in their ongoing professional development.
