On April 23, 2025, St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University hosted an event dedicated to the 149th anniversary of the birth of Ivane Javakhishvili. The event was opened by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, Academician Roin Metreveli.
A keynote lecture was delivered by Academician Niko Javakhishvili, Doctor of Historical Sciences. His presentation, titled “Ancestors of Ivane Javakhishvili,” focused on the lineage and heritage of the renowned Georgian scholar and founder of Tbilisi State University. The lecture presented the historical roots and aristocratic background of Javakhishvili’s parents – Aleksandre Javakhishvili and Sophio Vakhvakhishvili.
The event included a review of historical facts and a discussion on Ivane Javakhishvili’s national significance, once again highlighting his contribution to Georgia’s scientific and cultural development.
