Due to the events that took place in Prague in which medical student Jan Opletal was killed, more than 1,200 students were detained in a concentration camp and nine activists were shot. November 17 was declared as International Students' Day in honor of the students who died in Prague.
The celebration of the International Students' Day in Georgia was founded in 2009. The meeting was held online, led by Keti Katselashvil, Head of the SANGU Self-Government’s Department of Education, she talked about the history of the establishment of the International Students' Day, how pandemic changed student’s life. At the end she announced the approximate date of the student self-government elections and called on all students to be active and participate in elections.
