Master’s Students Held a Scientific Seminar on Digital Humanities

On June 16, 2026, a scientific seminar in Digital Humanities was held in the St. Ilia the Righteous Conference Hall, with the participation of students of the Master’s Programme in Georgian Philology.

As part of the seminar, students presented scientific essays dedicated to current issues in Digital Humanities, digital resources, and the possibilities of their application in contemporary humanities research.

The participants presented the following topics:

• Salome Shengelia - “Corpus Linguistics and the Digital Analysis of The Knight in the Panther’s Skin”;
• Ludmila Geladze - “The TEI Standard as a Bridge between Technology and the Humanities”;
• Tea Mindiakauri - “Digital Epigraphy: The Georgian Epigraphic Corpus and the Study of the Past through Modern Technologies”;
• Giorgi Basiashvili - “Key Issues in the Computational Modelling of Georgian Grammar”;
• Sopio Shukvani - “The Role of Digital Humanities in Preserving and Promoting Svan Cultural Heritage”;
• Sopio Kunchulia - “Digital Epigraphy Following the Path of Traditional Epigraphy”;
• Londa Gogoladze - “The Development of the Internet Network and Its Role in the Development of Digital Humanities”.

The seminar served as an important academic platform for students, offering them an opportunity to present their research to a wider audience, engage in professional discussion, and share academic experience.

The presentations once again highlighted the growing importance of Digital Humanities in contemporary research and the broad potential of digital technologies in the study of the Georgian language, literature, and cultural heritage.
