With the goal of promoting global education, sustainability, and community engagement, the 2025 ESD Okayama Award competition has been announced with the support of UNESCO ESD-Net 2030.
The award aims to identify and support projects that promote Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) at the local level and serve as models of good practice.
Submitted initiatives should combine knowledge-sharing and active engagement in building a sustainable society.
Key eligibility criteria:
– ESD projects must be nominated by an organization and must have been running for at least 2 years;
– Each applicant may submit 1 or 2 projects;
– Award amount: USD 3,000 per winning project;
– Application deadline: May 31, 2025, 17:00 (Japan time).
The award ceremony will take place on October 21, 2025, in Okayama City, Japan, organized by the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability, Okayama City, and the ESD Promotion Commission. One representative from each winning project will be invited to Japan to participate in the ceremony and present their initiative.
