St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University expresses its deep sorrow over the passing of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia.
His Holiness and Beatitude was the founder of the University and the inspiration behind its spiritual mission. His vision of the unity of education, spirituality, and national values continues to define the development of SANGU and the path of each student, staff member, and graduate.
His contribution to the Georgian Church and society is immeasurable.
We extend our condolences to all of Georgia, the Georgian Orthodox Church, and every citizen on this great loss.
