Open Competition Announced for One Academic Position of Assistant Professor in Psychology

The deadline for submission of documents and registration of applicants is April 20 and 21, 2026. Address: 53a Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue, Tbilisi, Office of Records Management and Human Resources Management, First Building (Room N104), from 11:00 to 17:00.

The commission is authorized to conduct the competition, including reviewing applications submitted by candidates, evaluating candidates, and making decisions, from April 22, 2026, and to present the results no later than May 8, 2026.

Main requirements for holding the academic position of Assistant Professor:

1. For appointment to the academic position of Assistant Professor, the legislative requirement is: a doctoral academic degree or an equivalent degree;
2. When reviewing the data of candidates for the academic position, the candidate’s achievements in educational and scientific-research activities will be taken into account, which may be evaluated and confirmed by the following:
1. Scientific publications, scientific scholarships and grants received during the last 5 years, and other scientific activities;
2. Participation in scientific conferences and professional development activities during the last 5 years;
3. International cooperation and activity in academic and scientific-research fields;
4. In the case of Assistant Professor and Assistant positions, a motivation letter submitted by the candidate;
5. Syllabus/syllabi, evaluated in terms of content, learning outcomes, and the adequacy of the methods used to achieve them. For the purposes of the competition, the applicant must submit no more than three syllabi;
6. A scientific paper/project/research work which, in the candidate’s opinion, best demonstrates their scientific potential;

For appointment to the position of Assistant Professor based on professional qualifications, the following criteria will be taken into account:

1. A person holding at least a Master’s degree or an equivalent academic degree may be elected to the academic position of Assistant Professor based on professional qualifications, provided that they meet at least one of the following conditions:
1. Has at least 3 years of experience working in a leading position in the relevant field or performing specific work relevant to the field предусмотрებული for the vacant competition position;
2. Has at least 2 years of experience in pedagogical activity at a higher educational institution;
3. Has experience of involvement in a scientific or practical research project/projects in the relevant field and/or has published scientific publication/publications;

Additional university-specific requirements are defined both for academic and professional qualification criteria:

1. Experience in the development and implementation of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs;
2. Experience in teaching at least 3 courses included in the Bachelor’s and Master’s educational programs in Psychology;
3. Experience in developing/providing materials for at least 3 courses included in the Bachelor’s and Master’s educational programs in Psychology;
4. Experience in teaching courses in the following areas: Psychology of Set, Social Psychology, Legal Psychology, History of Psychology, Gender Psychology;
5. Experience in teaching and research activities;
6. Publications published in peer-reviewed scientific journals;
7. Knowledge of a foreign language.

Documents to be submitted for the competition:
Applicants willing to participate in the competition are obliged to submit the following documentation to the commission at the document submission stage:

1. Completed application addressed to the competition commission, in the provided form;
2. Curriculum Vitae (CV), in electronic and printed form;
3. Completed applicant’s questionnaire, in electronic and printed form, in the provided form;
4. Copy of identification document;
5. One photograph, size 3×4;
6. Notarized copies of document/documents confirming the award of the relevant academic degree;
7. Documentation confirming scholarships, grants, and other scientific activities, for the last 5 years;
8. Documentation confirming participation in conferences and professional development activities, for the last 5 years;
9. Documentation confirming international cooperation and activities in the relevant field;
10. Motivation letter;
11. Syllabus/syllabi, evaluated in terms of content, learning outcomes, and adequacy of the methods used to achieve them. For the purposes of the competition, the applicant must submit no more than three syllabi;
12. Scientific paper/project/research work;
13. Documentation confirming work experience in the relevant field, minimum 3 years, or documentation confirming pedagogical activity at an authorized higher educational institution, minimum 2 years, or documentation confirming involvement in a scientific or practical project, or published scientific publications;
14. Certificate confirming knowledge of English language, at least B2 level, if available;
15. Documents confirming education/qualification obtained abroad, if any, must be accompanied by a notarized Georgian translation and a document of recognition of education obtained abroad issued by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement;
16. Documents confirming university-specific requirements;
17. A certificate of criminal record issued by the relevant authorized body, as well as a certificate on deprivation of rights;
